Kaitlyn's Swimming Lessons

Kaitlyn had to be in lessons longer than both Alex and Rebekah, mostly because of her age. She picked up on how to swim really really fast, but was still scared of floating for awhile, so her big struggle was getting her confidence and stubborn personality to catch up with her physical ability. But, as always, Mary worked miracles, and Kaitlyn can swim. We'll do a short refresher course for her at the beginning of next summer, but it won't take much since she has the skill set already. We are so proud of our Kaitlyn! This type of swimming lesson can be intimidating, but man does it build water confidence in a child! I love what Mary does with Infant Swimming Resource. It amazes me. I am also very grateful for her. She spends 10 hours a day in that pool and is so wonderful with these little children. We love our Mary! Annnnd, now she is our neighbor, which is so fun! Here are some of Kaitlyn. It looks like she hated every moment of the lessons, but the truth is that the only days I remembered to bring the camera, were also the days she cried. She was just being stubborn. Must take after her dad. ;)

The videos below are from the end of her lessons. Close to the end, Miss Mary does a light clothes day and a heavy clothes day, where the kids come fully clothed (once in summer clothes and once in winter clothes) and she makes them do all their safety skills in these heavy water filled clothes. It is so hard for them, but it shows them that if they fell in a pool with their clothes on, they can still swim! It's emotional to watch actually. Kaitlyn got frustrated doing this, but she did so so so well. We were so proud of her!

Wow! I'm so proud of her! That did look very emotional for Kaitlyn and mom and dad watching. I know it's how they learn so well, but it just pulled at my heart strings when she wanted to be done and Mary would just throw her back in. She's pretty amazing!
